Meet The Players - International Qualifiers

One of the most exciting innovations for this year’s route for Lakeside qualification was increasing the number of men’s qualifiers to 40 players and women’s to 16.
This also meant that new regional tables were introduced and the list of international qualifiers demonstrates the far reaches of the globe the BDO have reached. You can meet the International qualifiers here:

Dave Cameron

Age: 44
Country: Canada
Bookies Odds: 500/1
Best Lakeside: Debut
Playing: Martin Adams
Bio: Dave Cameron qualified for Lakeside via the Canadian ranking tables, he finished top in the 2012/13 season. He is the holder of 2 Canadian titles this year, the Newfoundland Open and the Quebec Open.

Mike Day

Age: 58
Country: New Zealand
Bookies Odds: 500/1
Best Lakeside: Debut
Playing: Sam Head
Bio: Mike has made the 12,000 mile journey to take on Sam Head at Lakeside 2014. He has qualified via the BDO’s New Zealand ranking events including picking up the Canterbury Open title.

Jeroen Geerdink

Age: 35
Country: Netherlands
Bookies Odds: 250/1
Best Lakeside: Debut
Playing: Dave Prins
Bio: A qualifier from the Western Regional tables Jeroen swells the ranks of the large Dutch contingent at this year’s Lakeside. His best efforts this season were a quarter final place in Torremolinos and the semi final of the Catalonian Open.

Hiroaki Shimizu

Age: 34
Country: Japan

Playing: Christian Kist
Bio: Hiroaki will make Lakeside history no matter what the outcome of his game is. He will be the first ever Japanese player to play on the famous Lakeside stage when he takes on Christian Kist in the preliminary game.

Harley Kemp

Age: 19
Country: Australia

Playing: Michael Meaney
Bio: 19 year old Harley makes his debut at Lakeside this year. He is the current Australian Masters and Central Coast Australian Classic Champion after an excellent year on the Australian circuit.

Madars Razma

Age: 25
Country: Latvia

Playing: John Michael
Bio: Madars is the first Latvian to play in the Lakeside World Championships. He qualified via the new Baltic and Scandinavian regional table after an excellent tour. His record this year is littered with finals, semi finals and ¼ finals. He is the current Finnish Open title holder and also played in the last 32 at the Winmau World Masters.

Karel Sadlacek

Age: 33
Country: Czech Republic

Playing: Paul Hogan
Bio: Karel is another player who is not only making his debut but is also the first ever representative from his Country to take part; the Czech Republic is where Karel calls home. He has qualified via the Eastern European section after a solid 2013, the highlight being a semi final spot at the Romanian Open.

Jim Widmayer

Age: 44
Country: USA

Playing: Garry Thompson
Bio: Jim qualified via the USA regional table and is the first American at Lakeside since 2005. Jim is the current Metroplex Champion and was runner up in the USA Dart Classic.
