INTER-COUNTY YOUTH KNOCKOUT CUP 2008 |
 |
Essex have won the 2008 Inter-County Youth OK Cup at Kettering
today. They beat Glamorgan "B" by 5 matches to 2. In the Semi-Finals
Essex scored a narrow 4-3 win over Northants "B" while Glamorgan
defeated Humberside "A" 5-2.

TEENAGE 2008 |

Humberside's Leon Bailey came
through a strong field to land the 2008 British Teenage title in
Kettering today.
Leon narrowly defeated Jason Marriott from Lincolnshire by 3 legs to 2.
Third place was shared by Jamie Lewis of Pembrokeshire and Berkshire's
Scott Lovett.

RECORD ENTRIES FOR THE WINMAU
BDO BRITISH
CLASSIC
580 men and 134 women will contest the 2008 Winmau BDO British Classic
which will be played at the Kettering Conference Centre on Saturday.
The Men's Classic is the penultimate event in the 2008 BDO International
Grand Prix and will be televised live on Setanta Sports.

WDF EUROPE CUP YOUTH
2008
The Europe Cup Youth was concluded yesterday evening in
Swansea. The Dutch Boys retained their overall title with
England in second place and the Republic of Ireland third.
England's Shaun Griffiths won the coveted Singles title with a
narrow 3 sets to 2 victory over Patrick Meaney from the Republic
of Ireland. The Pairs event went to Jeffrey Stigter/Maarten Pape
of the Netherlands who edged out David Coyne/Patrick Meaney by 4
legs to three. In the Team event Netherlands defeated England by
9 legs to 7 in yet another exciting match.
Sweden dominated the Girls event winning both the Singles and
Pairs events. Gabriella Asthammer defeated Germany's Asaria
Hintzsche-Oehme by 4 legs to 2 in the Singles then teamed up
with Lina Odén to win the Pairs with a 4 - 2 win over Lynn
Poolen and Kristie Struker from the Netherland who finished in
second place in the overall Cup. Hosts Wales took the overall
Bronze medals.

WDF EUROPE CUP YOUTH 2008
The 2008 WDF Europe Cup Youth is currently being played at the
University of Swansea in South Wales. The opening rounds of the Boys
Team and the Girls Pairs events were played yesterday with the best
British performances coming from England in the Boys Team and Wales in
the Girls Pairs. The Boys Singles and Pairs plus the Girls Singles will

ANDY FORDHAM
2004 BDO World
Professional Darts Champion Andy
Fordham has been
given medical advice that he
needs a liver transplant.
Having collapsed
during the 2007 Lakeside World Championships, Andy was hospitalised and
later diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver.
He expects to be
placed on the transplant list shortly.
Everyone at the
British Darts Organisation and his many colleagues and friends in world
darts send their best wishes to him for a speedy return to good health.

AUSTRALIAN GRAND MASTERS 2008
Australia's Tony David captured
the Australian Grand Masters title with a 5-3 win over Rob Modra. Third
spot was shared by Steve Duke senior and Kyle Anderson. Simon Whitlock
shared 5th place.
In the Women's event Corrine Hammond
took the title with a 4-0 victory over Janine Cassar. Carol Forwood and
Julie Thomas shared third place.

WELSH CLASSIC 2008
Francis Hoenselaar returned to winning ways when she won the
Womens Singles at the Welsh Classic, she beat England's Dee Bateman 3-0.
Irina Armstrong continued her good form and shared 3rd place with Tricia

The Men's title went to England's Garry Thompson who
got the better of rising Dutch star Joey ten Berge by 4 legs to 1.
Sweden's Alan Norris and Yorkshire's Scott Waites shared third place.

from fifty-four BDO counties will be at Lakeside
Country Club, Frimley Green on Saturday, July 12th for the
2008 BDO GOLD CUP - and the stage
finals from the Last 8 to the Final in the Men’s Singles will be
televised live and exclusively on Setanta Sports from
7PM to Midnight.

those hoping to win through to the televised stage finals is

The family of Lily
Coombes would like to thank the BDO and Suffolk Darts for their lovely floral
tributes and representatives of the Darts World who attended her funeral..
The service included Sue Talbot paying a lovely tribute to Lil and also reading
a tribute from Sharon Kemp who is in Australia.
Thanks also to Maureen Flowers for the lovely ‘pillow tribute’.

included a lovely poem and a beautiful photo of her enjoying her strawberry’s
