After losing out to Richard Veenstra in last years tournament, Kyle McKinstry made an immediate impact in the 2019 BDO World Professional Darts Championships as he defeated Chris Landman in a marathon contest. The Northern Irishman averaged well over the 90 mark and hit five maximums as he defeated his Dutch opponent over the full five sets on the Lakeside stage.
A 104 checkout got the ball rolling for Landman as he took the opening set. A 121 on the bullseye halted the rapid throwing Dutchman’s momentum as he levelled proceedings. With the pendulum swinging his way, McKinstry capitalized, hammering home some high scoring visits to get his nose in front.
The biggest moment of the match was still to come. McKinstry firing in a spectacular 133 on double eight as Landman looked like he was building up some steam. The Northern Irish international would close out the contest on double 12 as he let out a sigh of relief.
