COVENTRY XMAS OPEN 2010

XMAS OPEN - FULL REPORT
Another quality day of darts was had with a field of 44 Pairs and 90 Singles. Some of the pairings that had registered sent out a message of intent, we were even graced with a couple of County veterans who made a long awaited return to darts, Alan Sharratt made a return to play with Lance Thompson who between them boast nigh on 150 appearances, also Graham Stamps teamed up with current player Bobby Nixon. They went out at the last 16 stage in a tight contest losing to Derek Buckley and Darren Swords. They were defeated though in the last eight to Kevin Dowling and Mark Carter. Making up the last four was Steve Hine and Nigel Heydon both back from their PDC World Championship matches where they both showed they deserved to be there, Ian McFarlane and Trevor Frost, and last years winners Praksh Jiwa and Matt Edgar. Dowling and Carter seemed to hit a COLD patch and bowed out losing 3-1 to Heydon/Hine whilst the same happened in the other Semi with Jiwa/ Edgar victorious. The Final was a cracker going all the way with all players hitting the big scores. Jiwa and Edgar retaining their title with the edge on the finishing.Last Eight:Darren Swords/ Derek BuckleyMark James/ Simon JonesSteve Smith/ Billy SmithAdam Smith Neale/ Ian PallettLast Four: = £40 per PairKevin Dowling/ Mark CarterIan McFarlane/ Trevor FrostRunners Up: £90Nigel Heydon/Steve HineWinners: £180Praklash Jiwa/ Matt EdgarOn to the Singles and a few surprises along the way with some top names falling early.
