AUSTRALIAN Internationals Tori Kewish and Mal Cuming both stormed to victory at the Newcastle Classic in New South Wales, Australia in a field of over 100 players.
Kewish retained her 2018 title with a 4-1 win over Chrissy Sheerin to maintain her position in the top twenty of the BDO Ladies Invitational Rolling table.
Sheerin reached the final with a 3-1 win over the experienced Lorraine Burn, whilst Kewish faced tough opposition from Leanne Wilson, edging her out 3-2 with a 27.25 average (81.75) in order to reach her second consecutive Newcastle Classic final.
Cuming, a 2019 Lakeside debutant, faced fellow Australian International Justin Thompson in a repeat of their first-round bout in Frimley Green back in January, in the Newcastle Classic final. This occasion saw Cuming continue the impressive form he had shown all day to take the title 5-1 over Thommo.
2018 Champion Thompson progressed to the final with wins over Jeremy Fagg in the quarters and Stuart Coburn 4-2 in the semis.
Cuming only dropped four legs en-route to victory, beating Adam Rowe 4-1 in his semi-final match, and Steve MacArthur 3-1 in the quarter-finals.
