Lorraine Winstanley joined Mikuru Suzuki in the final of the BDO Women’s World Championship after she defeated Anastasia Dobromyslova in the second semi-final. Winstanley will be playing in her first World final in eight attempts but will also be facing another first time finalist.
Dobromyslova would take the first of the three sets, opening up with a maximum and a early break of throw. Despite a 98 checkout from the number one seed, Anastasia would clean up and take the set, immediately putting the pressure on Winstanley.
A third leg break in the second set would hand Winstanley a lifeline as she took the second set of the match. As she upped her scoring in the treble 20 region, the legs began to flow. A break in the second leg of the set would make life difficult for the Russian as Winstanley went one away. The win would be confirmed as she continued her excellent accuracy on double ten to tie up the biggest win of her career.
