In addition to staging all their British
Inter-Counties Championship matches in the Rileys Darts Zone,
the NDO will also stage their Cup competitions and youth
competitions in the expansive Magdalen Street Darts Zone.
Rileys have put in a raised stage and four
extra ‘throws’ – taking the total to 10 - to accommodate the NDO
and its players.
A designated spectator area will have room
for some 150 darts fans, and a video link will play out on a big
screen in another part of the stunning, modern club.
NDO General Secretary Geoff Herschell said:
“We are delighted to sign up to play in the magnificent
facilities at Rileys Darts Zone in
Norwich, “and our full calendar of
Inter-County home fixtures will be played there from the start
of the 2010/2011 Couny season this September.”
Rileys Chief Executive Maurice Kelly said:
“This is a landmark signing for Rileys. We welcome the
Norfolk
Darts Organisation and its players to our
Magdalen Street club.
“We have worked together to create a great
darts facility for the county, and accommodate the needs and
wishes of the NDO.
“We would be delighted to hear from other
counties, and accommodate them, too, as we continue to open
Darts Zones across the country.
“Rileys are dedicated to making darts a
great sport – from grassroots to top level and we hope the
Norfolk
Darts Organisation is the first of many counties to sign up with
Rileys.”
The Magdalen Street Darts Zone opened in
January, and around 400 fans turned up to see it open its doors.
Rileys – who sponsor the British
Inter-Counties Championship - have already opened 20 Darts
Zones, and will fit them in most of their 126 clubs nationwide.
The hi-tech Zones have won praise from
players for being equipped with Championship-standard boards,
specially-focussed lighting, electronic scoring and wide
‘throws’.
Rileys are the
UK’s largest pool and snooker club operator
and are engaged in a programme of opening state-of-the-art Darts
Zones in their clubs nationwide.
