One of the BDO’s most popular ranking tournaments, the British Open attracts all the top players in the UK and Europe , and will include defending Men’s and Women’s Singles Champions, Yorkshire’s very own SCOTT WAITES and the high-flying Yorkshire county player, LORRAINE FARLAM.
Once again for the 2012 BDO season of major tournaments, there is an overall increase of £3,780 in the prize fund for the BDO British Open, which will be played at The Spa, Bridlington from Friday, August 31st to Sunday, September 2nd.
The 38th anniversary BDO British Open will be staged and promoted by the BDO and sponsored by East Riding of Yorkshire Council in association with EY Events, specialists in Events and Conferences in East Yorkshire.
The 2012 Women’s Singles Champion will receive a cheque for £1,000, a 25% increase on 2011, and the runner-up will receive £400; Semi-Finalists £160 each; Jt 5th £80 each and Jt 9th £40 each. In the Men’s Singles, top prize is £3,000; runner-up £1,200; Semi-Finalists £500 each; Jt 5th £250 each; Jt 9th £125 each and Jt.17th £50 each.
2012 Schedule:
Friday, August 31st: 2 PM to 5PM Players Register for the Men’s and Women’s Blind Draw Pairs (entries only accepted on the venue on the day). Toe-the-oche 6PM. For the very first time spectators will be able to watch the Friday night sessions free of charge.
Saturday, September 1st: 10AM-11AM Players Register for Men’s & Women’s Pairs (pre-entered). 12 mid-day: Toe the oche Men’s & Women’s Pairs.
Sunday, September 2nd: 8.30-9.30AM Players Register for Men’s & Women’s Singles (pre-enter). Toe the Oche: 10AM Men’s & Women’s Singles. STAGE MATCHES 5PM to 7PM approx: Men's and Women's Pairs and Singles Semi-Finals and Finals.
