The pattern continues with the Mixed Triples in which the top prize is increased to £900 (an increase of £540), with the runners-up receiving £600, the Semi-Finalists £300, Quarter-Finalists £150 and Joint 9th £75.
“This indicates our intention to make our Open events more attractive to all players”, says BDO Tournament Director, Wayne Williams. “In particular, the increases in prize money at the BDO International Open will make it far more attractive to the ladies, and we hope to see more of them taking part. The same with the men because we are re-evaluating all BDO tournaments going forward. “It is a BDO Invitation Tables event open only to players who are eligible to play in the Winmau World Masters and Lakeside World Professional Championships and the additional bonus is that as well as lot of darts, Pontins Brean Sands provides a great weekend of entertainment and camaraderie for players and families alike.”
This combination of competitive darts with a break for all the family makes the BDO International Open one of the most popular events on the BDO calendar. There is a full entertainment programme on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, with cabaret, dancing, various fun competitions and music.
