BDO AND EDO TRIUMPH AT RICOH ARENA FESTIVAL OF DARTS

The first ever joint-staging of events between the British Darts Organisation and England Darts Organisation proved to be a massive success, as a whole host of ranking events took place in the magnificent Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

The Festival of Darts opened on Friday, July 13th with the first ever Ricoh Open, in which Dave Copley produced his best to take victory in the Men's Singles at the expense of Ian Jones, while the ever-impressive Deta Hedman set her stall out in the Ladies Singles, taking out Emma Little to achieve her first title of the weekend.

A magnificent  Saturday of darts kicked off with the England National Singles, and Zoe Jones reached her second final in as many weeks - which included a terrific 3-0 win over the in-form Hedman in the Semi-Finals. However,  victory wasn't to be for the reigning Gold Cup Champion, as Lisa Ashton retained her title with a 4-1 win.

Robbie Green took victory in the Men's Singles with victory over Winmau sponsored Darryl Fitton in a tight 5-3 final.

In the BDO's biggest event of the weekend, the Winmau British Classic, there was a Dutch triumph as Jan Dekker stormed past BDO Gold Cup Champion Stephen Bunting with an impressive 6-1 scoreline to win the title for the first time.

Deta Hedman and Anastasia Dobromyslova renewed their competitive rivalry on the oche in the Ladies Singles, with Hedman triumphing 4-2 and taking out a superb 149 checkout to seal the Ladies Singles title with Dobromyslova waiting on 58!

Deta's work was not done however, as she then went straight to the Grosvenor Casino to pick up the Ladies title in the climax of the Grosvenor series. It sealed yet another extraordinary weekend for 'The Dark Destroyer' as she pickerd up a magnificent hat-trick of titles (see photo with BDO Tournament Director, Wayne Williams).

Yorkshire's James Wilson stood alongside her as he took victory over Glen Durrant in the Men's Grosvenor Casino Singles.

Sunday saw the EDO England Masters Singles, Pairs and Youth all take place, with shocks and surprises littered everywhere on the internet-streamed main stage - including Martin Atkins falling in the first match to Mark McGeeney, and the resurgent Darryl Fitton taking a sensational victory over Martin Adams, hitting the bullseye to steal the match 3-2 with Adams waiting on a double!

The Finals themselves saw Anastasia Dobromyslova going one better than Saturday by overcoming Lisa Ashton 4-2 to seal a good weekend's work.

The Men's Final saw Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney gain a 5-1 victory over Gary Robson to clinch the title.

In the Ladies Pairs, Deta Hedman couldn't quite manage yet another victory with Tamara Schuur of Holland, as they were thwarted by the Wales/England pairing of Julie Gore and Tricia Wright.

It was an all-Yorkshire affair in the Men's Pairs as the dream tewam of Scott Waites and Garry Thompson picked up their latest Pairs title.

The weekend was completed with a victory for rising star Josh McCarthy in the Youth final, as he battled back from 2-0 down against Nathan Street to hit tops to win 3-2, and take the title.
