TRINA HONOURED WITH A "TRINA TRAIL" |
 |
Trina Gulliver has been uniquely honoured in her home town of Southam, Warwickshire, with seven specially
made benches to celebrate her seven consecutive BDO Lakeside Women’s
World titles from 2001 to 2007.
Each specially engraved bench has been placed in sites around the town
which are special to Trina – starting at the Bowling Green Pub, which
was run by her parents and where she lived until the age of 4.
The benches celebrate each of the seven years in which Trina
|
|
won her titles, and an attractive colour brochure has been produced. It
is entitled ‘The Trina Trail’ and describes Trina as ‘Southam’s Golden
Girl’.
Darts is also a winner, because never before has a darts player been
honoured in this way. “I feel completely overwhelmed that Southam has
honoured me and my achievements in darts in such a unique way”, says
Trina. “The town and its people have given me tremendous support
throughout my career and I am proud that they have recognised me in this
way.”
Not only is the trail destined to become an enjoyable walk for local
people, but it is now a tourist attraction in the town. |

GRAND SLAM OF DARTS 2010 |

 |
Yorkshire's Scott Waites
gave a spectacular performance in the Grand Slam of Darts which ended in
Wolverhampton this evening. On his way to the final he came second
in his Round Robin group beating Ted Hankey (5-3) and Wayne Mardle
(5-0) but losing to Simon Whitlock (4-5). In the knockout stages he
had excellent wins over Gary Anderson (10-9), Simon Whitlock (16-13)
and Terry Jenkins (16-11). Unfortunately the high scoring and
clinical finishing which had been a feature of his play all week
deserted him in the final and a rampant Phil Taylor ran out an easy
(16-2) winner.
Tony O'Shea also showed his class winning all three of his group
matches against Colin Osbourne (5-2), Colin Lloyd (5-2) and Brian
Woods (5-3). He had a narrow win over Mark Webster (9-10) in the
first "KO" round before losing (7-16) to Phil Taylor.
Ted Hankey, Brian Woods, Darryl Fitton and Francis Hoenselaar all
failed to progress from the Round Robin Groups. |
