Highlight of the Suffolk v Hertfordshire Inter-Counties game was the achievement of Daniel Ovens of Hertfordshire.

Daniel the youngest son of Denis and Kathy is only 15 years 2 Months old won both the Highest Average awards for Hertfordshire on the Saturday and Sunday over the weekend.

On Saturday he won 3 - 0 in 17-14 and 21 darts including a 106 finish for an average of 28.90.

On Sunday team captain Peter Kosmalski could not play due to an accident with is throwing hand and team manager Charlie Brownless gave Daniel the opportunity of playing and he responded by winning 3- 0 in 15-18 and 20 darts which also included a 122 finish and an average of 28.36, a great weekend for one so young.

One can only ask is he the youngest player to achieve the double award in the BICC.

The 2002 Lakeside World Professional Champion Tony David is recovering after yet another major operation. Tony had his spleen removed during a surgical procedure which lasted for 6 hours. We are informed that his doctors are very pleased with his current rate of improvement.

The forthcoming Zuiderduin Masters, which will take place at the Zuiderduin Hotel, Egmond Aan Zee, Netherlands this weekend is to be streamed Worldwide.

The event starts on Friday at 19.30 CET. The Saturday afternoon session begins at 12.30 CET and the Saturday evening session commences at 19.30 CET. The final session starts at 12.00 CET on Sunday.

MARIE ON THE MEND

We are delighted to report that MARIE HAWKINS, wife of BDO Honorary President Sam Hawkins, is now on the road to recovery following her recent illness.

She is out of hospital and making such steady progress that she is already setting her sights on being at Lakeside Country Club with Sam and her many BDO friends and officials, for the 2010 World Professional Championships in January.

A much loved and respected BDO stalwart, she is unable to personally answer the hundreds of people who have sent her cards, messages and flowers.

She has asked us to send her heartfelt and sincere thanks to them all.
